Reverse DNS support feature released!
We are happy to announce that SolusIO now supports reverse DNS records, and is being offered at no additional cost. This feature is available in SolusIO version 1.1.15227 and older.
Reverse DNS records are used in a variety of situations to weakly authenticate the caller. For example, reverse DNS records are widely used in combatting email spam by verifying that the sender of an email message did so from a host for which there was a reverse DNS record, and optionally, where that host was recognized as one that was authorized to send email from the originating domain.
A lot of email servers will reject messages from any server that does not support reverse DNS lookups.
How it works
To get started with the SolusIO Reverse DNS feature you will need to enable DNS integration in DNS Settings. Currently, SolusIO supports PowerDNS only.
- The admin can also set up a Default Reverse DNS record template on this page.
- Activate and set up the Reverse DNS zone for IPv4 or IPv6 IP block.
The ability to manage reverse DNS entry for IPv4/IPv6 addresses is available on the Networking on the Virtual server page in Admin or User area.
- Reverse DNS is not only a great way to improve your cybersecurity investigations, but also to keep your email in tip-top shape.
